I moved to Scotland in 1993, and I encountered all of these obstacles.

Even with a degree, speaking in English should have been easy! But I froze, I was afraid of making mistakes, being judged, or looking silly. I had to form all my sentences in my head before I could say them, which made me lose time and spontaneity.

And my shyness didn’t help either! All my English would get mixed up in my head when I had to speak. I couldn’t express myself clearly.

I was frustrated because I had spent years learning English... only to end up with this result?!

I understood pretty well what people were saying to me, but I struggled so much to hold a conversation, to speak fluently, to express my true personality. Most of the time, I felt like a plant in the corner.

Then, little by little, with daily practice, everything started to click. I spoke English fluently, I could handle any situation. And finally, I could be myself in that language.

Your native teacher selects topics relevant to daily interactions in France, whether with colleagues, friends, neighbors, clerks, or shopkeepers. This approach ensures you can easily apply what you learn and practice in class to real-life conversations!

For each topic, we provide a curated list of natural vocabulary, expressions, and grammar structures commonly used by native French speakers. By incorporating this selected language into your conversations, your French will sound more authentic. This list serves as a valuable tool to support your conversation practice and enhance fluency.

We design speaking activities that encourage dialogue and debate, ensuring you always have something to contribute. Our questions are carefully chosen to be engaging, non-personal, and non-sensitive, so you can feel comfortable and confident while practicing and debating in French.

Each online conversation class lasts 1h and happens once a week. It gathers a small group of up to 4 attendees. All classes are scheduled in the Europe/Paris time zone (GMT +01:00) but can be joinable from all over the world.

How is the class going ?

1- Welcome and Comfortable Environment to Start Your French Class

Grab a coffee, get comfortable, and connect with your teacher and fellow participants. Prepare to immerse yourself in speaking French for the duration of the class!

2- Topic introduction

The teacher will introduce the topic of the day in an interactive manner, providing you with insightful social and cultural context to enrich your understanding and conversation.

3- New vocabulary introduction

Your teacher will introduce a curated list of relevant vocabulary, expressions, and sentence structures related to the class topic. You’ll learn how to pronounce them, use them in context, discover practical synonyms, understand formal and informal variations, and incorporate them into grammatically correct sentences.

4- Interactive Pair Conversation

You’ll engage in an immersive French conversation with another participant, discussing a thought-provoking question related to the main topic. With the new vocabulary and expressions you've learned beforehand, you'll be able to express your ideas more clearly. The teacher will listen to your conversation and, if needed, challenge you to make your dialogue even more engaging and insightful.

5- Personalised feedback

After listening to your one-on-one practice, the teacher will provide personalized feedback, highlighting areas for improvement and offering tips to help you continue progressing and enriching your conversations in French.

6- Class Wrap-Up and Continued Learning

As the session concludes, the teacher will provide additional resources to help you dive deeper into the topic and concepts covered during the class. You’ll also gain access to the class materials on Learn, for further practice and learning.
